What is R.I.D.E.?
R.I.D.E is an acronym our team at Navina came up with to symbolize the journey that our students embark on when they begin to incorporate meditation, movement practice and our Thai Massage inspired teachings into their lives. The significance of the letters is centered around our desired recipients.
“R” is for Rainbow
(our school is a safe place for everyone)
“I” is for Inclusion
(our goal is that noone is left behind)
“D” is for Diversity
(our school is a space for all cultures, thoughts, beliefs)
“E” is for Equality and Equity
(let’s create the same opportunities for everyone)
Here’s what our R.I.D.E. scholarship looks like
The R.I.D.E. scholarship provides the selected recipient with enrollment in an in-person Principal Certification course. This is our first certification bundle and includes 9 days of instruction & course manuals. Your certification exam is also included in the scholarship. If you haven’t yet researched our courses and curricula, please read this page “Curriculum Design”.
The geographical location of the course can be selected by the recipient, based on the course locations we have listed on our calendar at the time the scholarship is awarded.
If you are the recipient of the scholarship, we request to work closely with you both during and beyond the period of the training with periodic check-ins, to learn of and understand the impact of the scholarship in your communities and in your personal life. We will also be requesting permission to share these experiences with our communities (online as well), both to share this impact and to make known the scholarship for future recipients.
Currently we have one (1) scholarship space available per year, however we are developing fundraising initiatives to help create additional scholarship spaces.
Are you the right candidate for the R.I.D.E. Scholarship?
This scholarship is for folx from marginalized populations who are interested in being part of a growing and dynamic community, and looking to access high-quality manual therapy education at no cost.
Specifically, the R.I.D.E. scholarship was created for BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA2S+ individuals who haven’t historically been given the equal opportunity and access they so rightly deserve. At Navina, we provide quality Thai-inspired manual therapy education and we’re committing ourselves to enhancing access to this work for these communities.
For anyone outside of these communities who is looking to access this education, please know that we will work closely with you to create a payment plan that meets your needs for flexibility. This means that you must be part of the above-noted communities (BIPOC and/or LGBTQIA2S+) in order to be eligible to apply for the R.I.D.E. scholarship.
Why does this scholarship program exist?
At Navina, we understand that equality and equity are not the same thing. And because of our commitment to strengthening our community is through inclusion and diversity, one element of equity means the creation of spaces that are more accessible to people of color, queer and trans folks, and those with disabilities.
This opportunity also exists because even though we are a queer-owned business, we recognize that there are people missing from our classes. We understand the power of representation, especially when working towards the development of a truly diverse community – and so this has been part of the driving force in the creation of this scholarship too, because safe and welcoming spaces are only truly safe and welcoming when everyone can see and feel these sensations for themselves.
