Costa rica retreats

Reconnect with nature, movement, learning, and community.

Navina Costa Rica is a place to slow down, step away from your stress, and immerse yourself in experiences that nourish your body and mind.

Whether you’re joining us to deepen a professional practice, reconnect with nature, or simply create space to breathe and rest, our retreat centre offers experiences designed to slow your pace and facilitate meaningful connection.

With the backdrop of one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth, the rainforests of the south pacific region of Costa Rica set the stage for our retreats.

Each retreat combines thoughtful programming with time to explore, rest, and enjoy the untouched nature that surrounds us. Every experience is different, but all retreats share the same philosophies of curiosity, community, and connection.

There is something profoundly restorative about spending time in nature. As interest in practices such as forest bathing has grown, so too has our understanding of how natural environments can influence our wellbeing.

Modern life often keeps us indoors, constantly in front of screens, and usually overstimulated. The rainforest does the opposite. It encourages us to notice more, move more slowly, and appreciate the incredible diversity of life that surrounds us.

Hidden in Costa Rica’s Southern Zone, our retreat centre is surrounded by tropical rainforest and bordered by a beautiful stream with waterfalls and natural pools.

There’s also an extraordinary diversity of wildlife here, with squirrel monkey’s visiting regularly, native (stingless) bees on site, and a full array of native species visible at regular intervals.

With Howler monkey’s as your alarm clock, there’s no mistaking that you’re IN nature. You’re part of it, rather than kept separate from it. For some, this might be a bit of a challenge, but if you can face it head-on, you’ll feel like a whole new person on the other side.

Simplicity is part of the experience we offer. Our focus isn’t on luxury – instead it’s on creating space where people feel deeply connected with nature and immersed in ways they cannot in the regular landscapes we’ve built around us. Our glamping-style set-up is purposefully designed for gathering in community, learning together, experiencing farm-to-plate food at every step, and leaving feeling inspired by what really matters.

The natural environment encourages us to slow down, become more present, and reconnect with the things that often get lost in the busyness of everyday life.

It often takes people multiple days before their eyes can move slowly enough to focus on and see even the surface layers of detail the rainforest presents to us. In these moments you’ll realise just how many layers to attention and focus there really are.

What’s included?

Each retreat listing will note clearly the inclusions (and exclusions), however as a general rule each retreat will include all accommodation and meals for the duration of your stay at Navina as well as all retreat programming. Optional extras are often things like massage treatments or adventure tours, like the canyoning adventure we also offer.

How do I get there?

Please remember that you need to book your own flights, bus, shuttle or car (your travel to and from the centre) separately from any retreat or training event. It is not included in any package. We can, however, help with the arrangements.

To get from San Jose to Navina you can take a public bus (with a company called Tracopa), but that is only recommended if you can speak Spanish. Otherwise you’ll be best served by a private shuttle service that we can help to arrange. There is also a chance we can arrange a private flight for you and your group but you must have a minimum of 5 people committed and also we must organise it well in advance of your retreat date.

What’s the accommodation like?

You can see inside the tents in the video above. We have glamping-style accommodations on raised platforms overlooking the rainforest. Each platform is supplied with electricity, a custom built tent, shelving to unpack your belongings onto, and comfortable (also custom made) mattresses.

Can dietary requirements be accommodated?

Mostly, yes. We already offer a vegetarian menu for all retreats, and we can often accommodate additional dietary restrictions. Please get in touch with us if you have concerns about this.

Is travel insurance recommended?

Yes, we do recommend you have travel insurance when you come to visit.

What should I pack?

A few things we recommend to bring include: flashlight/headlamp, sunscreen, natural repellent (not that the bugs are bad here, but some people are really sensitive), hiking footwear as well as regular options, swimmers/bathing suit and one set of light long pants/sleeves for the dusk when a few mosquitos come out for a snack. Otherwise, pack for hot, humid weather.
